Seen as an icon of spring by many, the daffodil has several festivals across the nation dedicated to it. If you live near or are traveling through an area where daffodils will be in bloom this spring, try to hit one of these festivals. If you can’t make it for the actual days of the events, you’ll still be able to see a lot of these delicate flowers if you go to the festival locations in the days before or after the celebrations.

American Daffodil Society National Show and Convention, Columbus Ohio. Held on April 11-14, this show will be great for anyone who wants to learn how to enhance their landscaping with daffodils. The show will be filled to the brim with speakers, tours and the flowers that are being honored. There will be a photography contest, educational workshops and more. The convention is taking place at the Crown Plaza Columbus North Hotel.

Meriden Daffodil Festival, Meriden, Connecticut. This is an annual event that takes place at Hubbard Park in Meriden, on April 27 and 28. There is free parking at various sites in the area, and shuttles run throughout the event. Every year, the Daffodil Festival features music, food, a parade, rides, craft booths and the Miss Daffodil contest.

The 27th Annual Daffodil Festival, Gloucester, Virginia. This festival is taking place April 6 and 7 on Main Street in Gloucester. In addition to the crafts, food, music and fun, there will also be both a 5K race and a two-mile “fun run.” Take a 90-minute tour of daffodil gardens for $5 per ticket, and listen to experts answer your gardening questions.

Nantucket Daffodil Festival, Nantucket, Massachusetts. Join the Nantucket Chamber of Commerce at their annual daffodil festival on April 26-28. This is quite the event, featuring art shows, an antique car parade, contests, educational lectures, a Daffy Hat contest, a children’s parade, and a tailgate picnic. There will also be a 5K race on Sunday morning. The actual daffodil show takes place on Saturday and Sunday.
With spring in bloom all over the country, there are not only daffodils, but all other types of flowers popping up everywhere, and along with them, festivals in their honor.
